The last of the Christmas decorations came down today. They come down a lot faster than they go up since everything was put away in a little over a day and it took over four days to decorate. The weather has cooperated and today was a sunny 48 degrees. January can be a fun time to visit Asheville and the WhiteGate Inn has Winter Season Rates available through March.
We had a staff meeting Sunday to discuss plans for January, a slower time when we can detail all the guest rooms and common areas in the Inn. It’s a great time to finalize plans for changes and improvements in 2011. We will be celebrating our 13th year of ownership in March, and there are always new projects in the works.
We are anticipating an inspection from Select Registry a group we have been members of for over seven years. Out of approximately 22,000 B&Bs and Country Inns in North America only about 400 qualify for this distinction of excellence. We never know who the inspectors is so it keeps everyone on their toes keeping the facility and service at the top.
We are headed to Charleston on Friday for the annual PAII (Professional Association of Innkeepers International) conference and trade show. We always come back re-energized and full of new ideas for the Inn. Social media was the hot topic last year, so we wonder what will be this year’s emphasis. We’ll blog about the conference when we get back. What a great time to be in Charleston and Ralph is sure to find time to visit some of those wonderful gardens.
