The popular travel website TripAdvisor named Asheville one of its Top 10 Food and Wine Destinations, putting it in the same company as cities including New York, San Francisco, and Chicago. It’s no surprise that New Orleans is at the top of the list.
We have seen the restaurant scene in Asheville explode in the last 5 years, and at last count there were 65 dining options in our downtown district. We love that our guests can walk to many of these restaurants from the 1889 WhiteGate Inn & Cottage, the closest bed and breakfast to downtown Asheville.
Frank and Ralph enjoy “reviewing” the downtown restaurants so that we can personally tell our guests where to dine, based on the type of food and experience they desire. When guests make their reservations at our Asheville Bed and Breakfast we always refer them to the “Best of Asheville” page on our web site, so they can read about the restaurants we recommend. We offer to make reservations in advance for our guests, so they are assured of having a table at the popular and harder to get in spots such as Curate, The Admiral, and Horizons at the Grove Park Inn.
Our guests come from all over the country, and we constantly hear from them how much they enjoy our local dining options. Guests from Charleston, SC, a city also in the top 10, often say Asheville has more options than Charleston, particularly when it comes to ethnic restaurants.
The farm to table concept continues to expand, and as stated on the TripAdvisor website, “The town of less than 100,000 people has 17 farmer’s markets, and the local restaurant scene is all about taking advantage of seasonal produce.” When you stay at our Asheville B&B, you will experience great food and fun in our dining room at breakfast and we will make sure you get a table at one of our exceptional downtown restaurants.
