"Why Asheville is a Vacation Destination"

The 1889 WhiteGate Inn was pleased to have recently hosted a couple that made the most of their four days in our beautiful area. We were amazed at everything they managed to do during their stay and we were delighted to help with recommendations and directions.

They checked-in and joined the rest of the guests at our evening social hour held outside around the lower pond, where 5 couples enjoyed meeting each other over wine and hors d’oeuvres. Frank and Ralph filled the guests in on what was going on in the area and discussed dining options. We were able to make a reservation at Cúrate for these guests and they were excited to try this very creative Spanish tapas restaurant.

The next day the guests spent the whole day at The Biltmore Estate and enjoyed the house, gardens, winery and Antler Village which has just opened an exhibit featuring over 35 Tiffany lamps and vases. They made it back to our Asheville bed and breakfast for social hour and talked about their day with the other guests. They ended up going to Fig Bistro with 3 other couples staying at the Inn!

The next day was predicted to be a hot one, so the couple decided to roam downtown Asheville to take in the River Arts District (RAD) during the cooler morning hours. We gave them directions to Mt. Mitchell and they loved the drive north on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Mt. Mitchell is only an hour from our Asheville NC inn and the temperature there was in the low 70’s.

The third day the couple had a more relaxed time. The wife scheduled a Gold Spa Treatment in her room that included (a 1-hour massage, a Belavi massage facial and a hand and foot reflexology treatment) while her husband took the Brews Cruise, a guided van tour of several of our local microbreweries.

The fourth day involved a combination of outdoor adventures. First, the couple booked a white water adventure with Wildwater Ltd, a refreshing rafting experience on the Upper Pigeon River. In the afternoon they went to Navitat and enjoyed an exhilarating zip-line adventure.

After breakfast and more great conversation with guests the couple checked-out and headed back to the “real world”. This was their first Bed & Breakfast stay. They told Frank and Ralph they could not wait to come back to the WhiteGate Inn and would tell all their friends about their wonderful experience.
